Why we do what we do.
We believe in creating things with intention, quality and passion. When designing our products we found the balance between functional objects while elevating your piece to also be a work of art. Inspired by the immense beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains, landscapes and peacefulness found in nature. Bringing the essence of the outdoors back home to remind us all of what nature brings to you.
Why we do it…
Emphasizing quality over quantity, we produce/release both our flagship designs as well as limited edition (stay tuned) designs in batches every few months, allowing us to ensure the highest quality. Using ceramics ensures a highly resilient product that will stand the test of time all while using a material that comes from and inspires our products. In the end our goal was to bridge the gap between form and function, creating items sculpturally beautiful that can be proudly displayed, shared and admired.
The Process…
We produce our products, using the ceramic slip casting process. We create strong stoneware smoking vessels, that are all handmade out of our studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. Using plaster molds, we fill them with slip (or liquid clay) and after pouring out the excess are left with a hollow, strong form.
…After they are released from the molds we clean up every piece by hand. Adding the bowl, carb and mouthpiece holes. Once dry, we fire them, then wet sand them to have that o-so-smooth finish. Then we glaze each piece both inside and out(partially) and fire again. Voila! You have Blue Ridge Pipe Co.
Who we are…
James and Ari here. When we started this endeavor all we knew is that we loved the outdoors, working with clay and sharing both those experiences with others. We aren’t just a pretty looking product, we work out of a basement, build our own prototypes, equipment and up-fit the space to suit our needs. We are constantly learning and growing while producing some pretty sick products to share.
